
Abram’s Delight*
Abram’s Delight, also known as the Hollingsworth House. The oldest home in Winchester, it was built in 1754 by Isaac, youngest son of Abraham Hollingsworth, who was the first white settler in the area. George Washington’s Office Museum*
Part of this old log and stone build ing was used by George Washington from 1755 - 1756 as a military office when he was Colonel of the Virginia Regiment protecting the 300-mile fron tier to the west. Corner of Braddock and Cork Streets, Old Town Winchester. (540)662-4412. Tours available.

Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters*
Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters, where Jackson spent much of the winter of 1861 - 1862, is a home once owned by Mary Tyler Moore’s great great grandfather. Here Jackson made plans for the Romney Campaign to the west as well as for his famous Valley Campaign. Glen Burnie - Historic House, Gardens, Julian Wood Glass Jr. Collection
Glen Burnie was the home of Winchester's Founder, Colonel James Wood. The Manor House is a handsome Georgian red brick house with sections dating as early as 1794. The interior contains examples of some of the finest early craftsmanship in the Lower Shenandoah Valley. The Gardens which surround the manor house are some of the grandest gardens in the Shenandoah Valley. Visitors follow stone walkways through a myriad of gardens enlivened by statuary, fountains and "folly" buildings. Open April through October six days a week 10 am - 4 pm (closed on Mondays). Sundays noon to 4 pm. Located on 801 Amherst Street in Winchester. From I-81 take the exit for Rt. 37, then take the exit for Rt. 50 East, follow Rt. 50 E. (Amherst Street) into Winchester. Glen Burnie is located on your right after the road changes from four lanes to two lanes. Admission to the House and Gardens is $8 per adult; $6 for senior citizens and students; and free for children ages 6 and under. (540) 662-1473.

Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum
The Discovery Museum, located at 54 South Loudoun Street in Old Town Winchester, is a hands-on experience for families. Exhibts explore a wide variety of subjects including natural history, simple machines, art-in-the-making, and a climbing wall. Open 9-5 Tuesday through Saturday, and 1-5 on Sundays. Historic Long Branch
Robert Carter Burwell’s 1811 Greek Revival Mansion on 400 rolling acres lovingly restored and exquisitely furnished in period pieces. Open April - October, Sat and Sun: 12pm - 4pm. Group tours daily by appointment. Exit 313 off I-81 to US Route 50 East; right on route 624, follow signs. (540)837-1856.
Hupps Hill Battlefield Park
Exhibits and activities addressing the role the Shenandoah Valley played during the Civil War with a focus on Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign. Visitors are encouraged to learn through touching, seeing and experiencing what it was like to live during that time period. Open every weekday, except Tuesday, 10am - 4pm; Sat and Sun: 11am - 5pm. Belle Grove Plantation
Belle Grove Plantation was built in 1794 by Major Hite and was used as headquarters of General Philip Sheridan during the Civil War. Extensive gift shop available with an area devoted to quilting and fabrics. Exit 302 off I-81, West to US 11 in Middletown; from Middletown, follow US 11 south one mile to Belle Grove entrance.
