Disappointed by attacks on Pollack
Editor:
I wanted to take a moment to say how sad it was to read the destructive personal and political attacks lobbed at Brad Pollack this past week in the area papers.
The women who wrote scornfully chattered as if they had known Brad for years when in truth they had never met him at all. It is indeed comforting to know, however, that such uncalled for remarks are limited to a few who have nothing better to do than to be downright nasty.
They dread the idea of Brad winning the area's House of Delegates seat on Nov. 6 so they attack him with letters to the editor and no doubt encourage the pulling-up or the obstructing of Brad's campaign signs, which has yet to abate, in an effort to thwart his election.
But it is clear to me, however, and I know to many others, that they are a representation of why voters of today have soured to the traditional party system for it is behavior such as theirs that does nothing but taint the allure of the Republican Party and is thus counterproductive to the Party's cause, driving many loyal and honorable party members away because their sense of fair play has been offended by those within the party who have gone bitter.
To the lady in Mount Jackson who makes clear her Republican Party affiliation and whose husband is a member of the Shenandoah County Electoral Board, the pride she wears on her sleeve in informing the public last week that she took part in letting "him [Brad] know that he was not welcome in our party," compels me to ask her: Madame, will Brad receive a fair shake at the polls come Tuesday?
